After Baldur's Gate 3, another DnD-based game is on the way. Early signs point to a very different experience
A new studio founded by the director of the Star Wars Jedi series will create a game based on the DnD universe. However, it will not be a Baldur's Gate 3-style title.

A new single-player game set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe is coming. Wizards of the Coast has signed a publishing agreement with Giant Skull studio, which is led by the director of the Star Wars Jedi series, Stig Asmussen (via PCGamesN).
Most likely, this is a reaction to the huge success that Baldur’s Gate 3 has achieved. However, we shouldn't expect a similar title, as the new project is going to be an action-adventure game that will offer players a completely different experience. This is indicated by Asmussen's comment.
Our talented and experienced team at Giant Skull is built on creativity and curiosity. Our goal is to craft a rich new Dungeons and Dragons universe filled with immersive storytelling, heroic combat, and exhilarating traversal that players will fully embrace.
The description seems to fit more with a title in the style of the mentioned Star Wars Jedi. These are games that focus primarily on narration, combat system, and world exploration. So it sounds like Giant Skull is creating a similar production, and we shouldn't really expect a classic RPG in the style of Baldur’s Gate 3. It is also natural that the team prefers to focus on the genre in which Asmussen already has experience.
For fans of the Larian Studios hit, a much more interesting item might be a new game, for which the Critical Role group is responsible. Unfortunately, we haven't yet received its official announcement.
